"Sharp eye, approach bolster Nimmo's value: Mets reportedly would prefer not to trade young outfielder", David Adler, mlb.com, January 21, 2018
Brandon Tate Nimmo (born March 27, 1993 in Cheyenne, WY) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Baseball America ranked Brandon among the Top 50 prospects for the 2011 draft at number 35. When the Mets selected him with the 13th overall pick in 2011, he became the highest-drafted Wyomingite in the history of the Major League Baseball Draft. On July 8, 2016, he was placed on the disabled list by the Mets with a partially collapsed lung. It was not clear how he had suffered the unusual injury which was revealed when he complained of a shortness of breath after a few days of enduring the pain.
In 2017, he was chosen to be part of Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic. In 2018 and 2020 Brandon had a season OPS+ of 148 (7th in MLB) and 146 respectively.
Interestingly, in 2019, Brandon had the fastest home run trot of all major league players, at 17.7 seconds. He is active on Twitter @You_Found_Nimmo.
