Player Bio:
Ronald James Marinaccio (born July 1, 1995) is a pitcher for the New York Yankees. Raised in Toms River, New Jersey, Ron played prep baseball at Toms River High School North, and played college baseball at the University of Delaware. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 19th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. The Yankees added him to their 40-man roster after the 2021 season, and on April 7, 2022, he was added to the Yankees opening day roster.
Ron made his MLB debut on April 9, 2022 in a game against the Boston Red Sox, pitching one inning in relief with two strikeouts. Regarding his debut, and a mound visit by teammates Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Higashioka, Marinaccio told reporters in the clubhouse: "I definitely needed it...after ball five, Rizzo came out there and said 'just give me a deep breath' and that's exactly what I needed at that point. Higgy told me we're going to go slider next pitch, I had confidence in him and landed that next one."
Ron earned his first major league win on June 10th, 2022 in a 13th inning walkoff versus the Chicago Cubs. In his first year, Ron pitched to an ERA+ of 188, and a 1.045 WHIP as a key part of the playoff Yankees.
