playerbio

Stephen Paul Lombardozzi Sr., born in Malden, Massachusetts, was a second baseman for the Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros for six Major League Baseball seasons. Steve was known as a top-notch fielder, but light hitter. However, as part of the Twins' world championship team in 1987, He hit .412 during the World Series and hit a home run in Game 5. Famously, he was prominent in the main press photo with President Reagan when visiting the White House with the team.

After being away from the game for 18 years, Steve was hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates in December 2009 to be their minor league fielding coordinator. See Steve's baseball cards at TCDB.

His son, Steve Lombardozzi Jr., formerly played professionally for the Washington Nationals.
