In '04, Iannetta batted .336/.438/.598 and Baseball America picked him for third-team All-American behind Kurt Suzuki and Landon Powell. He made the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Conference team and his 15 homers were four behind the conference leader.
He played between 2006 and 2020 for the Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Seattle Mariners, and Arizona Diamondbacks. On May 12, 2017, while with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he suffered severe facial lacerations and a concussion when he was hit in the face by a pitch thrown by Johnny Barbato of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He escaped what could have been very serious injuries, but was still out of action for several weeks.
He was signed by the Yankees in 2020, but did not get into a game and subsequently retired. Despite pedestrian numbers during his career, he became known for his clutch hitting.
Chris was selected for Team USA at the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
