Born in Cincinnati, OH, Andrew Sebastian Benintendi, nicknamed "Benny", is an MLB outfielder who has played for the Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.

Andrew was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 31st round of the 2013 amateur draft but did not sign, opting to attend the University of Arkansas. He was taken by the Boston Red Sox with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft. A few days later, he was named the winner of the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the best collegiate player in the country, on the strength of a junior season in which he hit .380/.489/.715 with 19 homers and 47 walks. He also won the Golden Spikes Award. He soon made his pro debut with the Lowell Spinners.

In his first pro season, split between Lowell of the New York-Penn League and the Greenville Drive of the South Atlantic League, Benintendi hit for a combined .313/.416/.556 with 11 homers and 31 RBI in 54 games, confirming his place as one of the top hitting prospects in the minor leagues. In 2016, he began the season with Class A Salem Red Sox, but after a little more than a month, during which he hit a scorching .341, he was promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs of the Double A Eastern League. He was named to the United States team in the 2016 Futures Game and was the lead-off hitter in the game.

On August 1st, he was hitting .295 and slugging .515 in 63 games for Portland when Boston announced that they were calling him up to the big leagues. Benintendi finished second in Rookie of the Year voting (to Aaron Judge) in 2017. His career had got off to a fast start.

Benny quickly became a fan favorite, including being part of Red Sox outfielders' victory dance celebrations.

In 2021, in his first year with the Royals, Benintendi batted .276/.324/.442 with 17 home runs and 73 RBIs in 134 games. He led all left fielders with 1,116 innings played and a .987 fielding percentage, and won his first Gold Glove Award.

In 2022, Andrew was named to the AL All-Star team and on July 28, 2022, Benny was traded to the New York Yankees. During the 2022-23 offseason, he signed a five year contract with the Chicago White Sox.
