Player Bio:
Brett Charles Sullivan (born February 22, 1994 in Stockton, CA) is an American professional baseball catcher for the San Diego Padres. Brett played college baseball for the Pacific Tigers. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 17th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, and played in the Rays organization until 2021.
He split 2017 between the Charlotte Stone Crabs (.301/.330/.463 in 83 G) and Montgomery Biscuits (.272/.302/.326 in 24 G). Baseball America rated him as having the best strike-zone judgement in the FSL and he was named the league's All-Star backstop.
Sullivan signed a major league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 1, 2021. On April 6, 2022, the Brewers traded Sullivan and Korry Howell to the San Diego Padres in exchange for Víctor Caratini. The Padres added Sullivan to their 40-man roster after the 2022 season.
Brett represented Italy in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Hitting fifth in their opener against Cuba, he flew out his first time up, against Roenis Elías. He later hit a 6th-inning sac fly off Naykel Cruz to break a scoreless tie. The next game, he was 3-for-3 with two walks and three runs versus Taiwan. He finished the event at .368/.409/.368; his 7 hits tied for second on Italy behind Nicky Lopez.
After being promoted to to the Major League Club, Brett got his first MLB career hit on 4/27/23 versus the Cubs.
