Player Bio:
Daniel Anthony Pasqua was born October 17, 1961 in Yonkers, New York. He is a former power-hitting left-handed outfielder.
He was an All-American outfielder for William Paterson in 1981 and 1982, and New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 1982. He was drafted by his hometown New York Yankees in the third round of the 1982 Major League Baseball draft. Through his first three years in the Yankees' farm system, Pasqua batted .267 with 70 home runs and 242 runs batted in. A hot start with the International League's Columbus Clippers his fourth season earned him a promotion up to the Bronx early in the 1985 season.
Despite his power, Dan was blocked at different times in his career by Ken Griffey, Don Mattingly, Frank Thomas and Bo Jackson. That, along with untimely injuries, some off-field trouble and poor play at inopportune times, resulted in his career never reaching the heights many thought it would.
In 1992, Sportswriter Paul Ladewski wrote in Inside Sports "Dan's average of one extra base hit per 7.6 at-bats ranked ahead of more celebrated southpaw swingers Ken Griffey Jr., Kent Hrbek, Fred McGriff, and Dave Parker. Equally overlooked was his capable glovework. Yet Pasqua has never had as many as 500 at-bats in any one season, and at 29, he may never know what might have been."
After retiring from baseball, Dan has worked as a community representative for the Chicago White Sox.
