playerbio

Adlai Wendell "Gus" Bono (b. August 29, 1894 Doe Run, MO – d. December 3, 1948 Dearborn, MI) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He got into four games with the 1920 Washington Senators. He made his major league debut on September 13. He struggled in that game and his next two games, on September 19th and 21st. Gus did pitch exceptionally on October 3, going four innings, allowing just a hit, a walk and no runs, striking out four. It wasn't enough to keep him in the big leagues.

He was seven years younger than teammate Walter Johnson. He also played six seasons in the Texas League and four in the American Association, going 25-11 for Kansas City in 1921.
