Peter Martin Dalena (born June 26, 1960 in Fresno, California) is a former Major League Baseball designated hitter/pinch hitter who played for the Cleveland Indians in 1989. He weighed 200 pounds and was 5'11" in height. Pete, who threw right-handed but batted left, attended Fresno State University. Most of his success in baseball came at the minor league level where he both played and coached (Harrisburg Senators).

In 1982 the New York Yankees drafted Pete in the 27th round (690th overall) of the June Regular Phase amateur entry draft. The Yankees already had a fellow by the name of Don Mattingly who made his major league debut that same year. Mattingly became a fixture at first the following season, and for the next twelve after that. Pete played first for the Yankees’ AAA affiliate from 1982 through 1988. That fall, he asked for free agency; it was granted, and Dalena signed a minor league contract with the Indians.

On July 7, 1989, Dalena made his major league debut at the age of 29, wearing number 31. In 5 games (7 at-bats), he batted .143 with his only career hit being a double. He struck out three times. He played his final major league game two weeks after his debut, on July 21. One more year at AAA with the White Sox and the Twins systems and Pete's playing days were done.

After retiring, Dalena worked as the boys’ baseball coach for his alma mater, San Joaquin Memorial High School, in Fresno, California. Pete is a San Joaquin Memorial High School sports Hall of Fame (2007) inductee.

His cousin, Mac Delana, continued the family's legacy as a football and baseball star at Fresno State.
